The registry is much better than all those .ini files. The registry is a
hiearchial database that allows you to remove all items for a particular
program or device quicker than editing several .ini files.
Since all the info is in one place you know where to look. Much better than
all the files on a typical unix system, but more complicated than the Amiga.
Usually the stuff you are looking for in the registry is in hkey_local
